[Fixed] : Laptop Battery Plugged In Not Charging


Sometimes you’re getting a error “plugged in, not
charging” message from your laptop battery. The error
‘plugged in not charging’ can be caused due to various
reasons such as faulty adapter or faulty charging board. The
cause for this error may be power management software that
become corrupt. There may be problem with BIOS update or some
other unknown cause.

A laptop battery not charging, fix can be done in only
a few minutes. This tutorial will help you resolve your
laptop battery “plugged in, not charging” problem.

1) BIOS Update :

Download the BIOS update from respective laptop company
website and install it. Now reboot your system and press F2
key or Del key to get into the BIOS Menu. Now find the reset
option to “Load Setup Defaults” in the
Exit tab to load the default configuration.
Press “Yes” to fix the problem of “plugged
in, not charging”.

2) Uninstall and Reinstall Power Management Software

Click start and type device in the search field, then
select “Device Manager“. You can also find
Device Manager by right click on the “My
” icon.

Expand the Batteries category and right click the
“Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery”, then
select Uninstall.

Note : Do not remove the Microsoft AC
Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.

Now reboot your laptop, and it will automatically
install the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery”

3) Update Battery Driver :

Press Windows Key + R then type “devmgmt.msc” and hit
Enter to open Device Manager.

Expand batteries section and then right click on
“Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery” and select
Update Driver Software.

Update all the battery driver such as Microsoft AC
Adapter by following same step.

Now reboot your laptop to save changes.

4) Miscellaneous Solution :

Plugin the laptop charger adapter directly to the wall
for steady Power Supply.

If you’re laptop battery is removable, clean the pins
by using blower and also clean the charger adapter.
